I would love your opinion on this….

even if you don`t think the same as me;)

The past few month I’ve been thinking about what is going to happen in my life from now on, not big changes, but little things that are really important to me.

I’m going to the cancer rehab-centre next Monday the 12th and gets home Saturday the 17th .
After that I hopefully know more about what the future will bring, job wise, having something done about the side effects from the chemo and so on.

One thing I’ve been thinking is that I’ll have a new kitten, well two actually. I really miss Lucy, and I’ve been having pets all my life so two new kittens it is;)

But the main problem is: Tattoos….

I want one;)
The past few months I’ve been thinking about it and I’ve decided that I want a pink ribbon on my right shoulder.
EDIT: The pink ribbon is the symbol for the fight against breast cancer.

I told my parents today and my Mum thinks it`s a great idea, and my Dad hates it…
(My brother have four tattoos and my dad always hated them, but I told him mine would be small and a symbol of my fight, so I hope he warms up to it)

So what do you guys think; you know I value your opinions as much as my parents;)

PS. I finally got my hands on Steve Carlson’s ”Stripped down” hence the music^^

I wouldn't make it pink but black. It's the same meaning and would look way better if you ask me.

Thanks for your opinion;)

Black ribbons are for mourning, anti-terrorism, gun control and narcolepsy.
Pink is for breast cancer.

ok... didn't know that.

and how about making it black inside and a pink band outside?

uhm... I can't remember the right word right now but how about that?

Jan. 3rd, 2009 06:52 pm (UTC)

Jan. 3rd, 2009 07:08 pm (UTC)
A pink one? Because i think it won't be visible on the skin
Jan. 3rd, 2009 07:21 pm (UTC)
Well the pink ribbon is the symbol for the breast cancer fight, so it has to be pink.

If you want a tattoo get one. I have two and I adore them. Took me 30 odd years to decide what and where, btu I am very glad.
I have a small star on my left wrist and I have a garland of daisies around my left ankle, each one means something to me.
I think the ribbon would be very special to you.
GO for it :D
Jan. 3rd, 2009 07:12 pm (UTC)
Yeah I´m almost 40, I´m old enough to do what I want;)
Thank you so much for your opinion, and it would be very special to me;)

Babe if that is what you want sweetie then you go and do it. I dont have any tattoos but having that one done as a symbol of the fight you have put up is a wonderful idea.
Jan. 3rd, 2009 07:14 pm (UTC)
Thank you so much honey.
I never thought much of tattoos before, but it have become sort of a cravingfor me to get that pink ribbon, cause it is so special to me and my fight..

I think as a survivor and fighter, you deserve to get any tattoo you like. I have tattoos and design them... but my opinion comes from watching others battle cancer, those that won and those that were taken away... all had a strength to them that I think elevates past what anyone else could tell them to do with their bodies. chemotherapy and radiation take away alot of control a person has before the treatments. Their physicality and appearance are not theirs to decide as much as they use all the energy they have ( and then some) to overcome both their sickness and their cure...so in that light, I think if you want a pink ribbon... you should have it...and by being your choice, it should be both supported and applauded.

Get any tattoo you want. :)

Just consult with your doctor first on whether or not it would do anything to any test or scan you might need to have in the future; when my aunt went for her MRI they said some colors of ink from tattoos might give problems with the MRI machine. Not that she'd ever had a tattoo or wanted one, but apparently that can happen.

Thanks hon for your advice, I didn`t know that.
Jan. 3rd, 2009 08:07 pm (UTC)
That would be a great symbol of your fight hun, make sure with your doctor it's ok for you to go ahead with it first.

But you should do what you want, it's your life:D

I didn't know you didn't have Steve's cds, I would have uploaded it for you.

*hugs you tight*

Thanks hon,
never thought about the doctor thing before but you`re the second one that mentioned it, so I will.
And I really want one, as a symbol for everything I went through;)

I found a internet shop here in Denmark that imports almost everything you want to order so that is cool;)

♥big hugs♥

People have gotten tattoos for much dumber reasons!
I think that would be a great thing for you to have as a way to remember how strong you are and how you kicked cancer ass!
And don't worry about pink ink not showing up colored ink is more expensive but show up quite brightly on skin...especially when you are pale like you and me ^_^
Jan. 4th, 2009 11:18 am (UTC)
Thanks darling,
you`re right;)
And I´m pale so it will show.

My Kastanje Honey!♥
Well... Firtly... I so understand you regarding the kitties. I hope you'll have your two little kitties soon enough and send pictures to us^^
I really want one myself now... But my hubby hates the idea of having an animal at home so I'm not sure it'll be easy... I so hope he'll understand I NEED a cat around.

Regarding the tatoo. I don't like tatoo.
But I do understand the meaning. And some, if well done, ca be beautiful.
The pink ribbon would be great if you ask me. Because it is important for you and it is a part of your life now. And a cute little pink tatoo on the shoulder could be cute I think.
I don't know what pink tatooes look like though...

Jan. 4th, 2009 11:22 am (UTC)
Hey sweetie♥
Just tell that hubby of yours that cats are nessesary in peoples lives;)
I´ll be sure to show your pics when I get them.

I´m not big on tattoos myself, but for some reason it have become an obsession for me to have that pink ribbon...somehow I feel I need that symbol for my struggle and survival.
And it will be PINK^^ cause the pink ribbon is the symbol for the breascancer survivors;)
♥hugs you tight♥

Thanks hon,
Yeah my dad`ll come around..
I used to hate needles too, but they grew on me during all those blood tests and chemo’s and stuff;)
And one time I got my wound sewed without anaesthesia, and my throat slit without it too so I hope I can handle the needles, this time it will be from my choice;)

Hey sweetheart,
Funny, I never been big on tattoos before, but with all that I´ve been through, that pink ribbon is a kind of an obsession with me, so I think I NEED it.
I like small cute tattoos on other people, and yours sound very personal too.
♥big hugs and kisses, take care of yourself♥
