It´s soo cool you know that,,,
and for that last thing *blushes*♥♥♥♥

"- What is your traditionnal cooking?^^"
I have to say roast-pork with bacon rinds, potatoes and gravy..It`s the most common meal for Christmas, but we eat around the year..
And strawberry-jelly with cream;;;;
(which is called "rødgrød med fløde" in danish.and that is one of our fave sentences to teach foreigners, cause it it so difficult for them to say because of the "Ø" witch do not appear in many languages.)*and then we laugh*

Well, obviously, I know quite a lot about Denmark ;) And I think I can say 'Rødgrød med fløde'! So I don't think I will be asking anything :)

It is really hot here too. I bathed in a fountain in the middle of Oslo today. It was real fun and I hadn't done that since I was a little kid ;) The downside was that some of my clothes was wet on the train ride home :P

I always want to know how to say things when I'm in different places (which isn't all that often), so here are my questions.

How do you say:

- Where is the bathroom?

- How much money is that? (to buy something)

- Please

- Thank you

- Help

And then if you could tell me a couple good insults, just in case...:)

I like the way you think;)
Here goes:

- Where is the bathroom?
HVOR ER TOILETET?

- How much money is that? (to buy something)
HVAD KOSTER DET?

- Please
VÆR SÅ VENLIG

- Thank you
MANGE TAK

- Help
HJÆLP

And then if you could tell me a couple good insults, just in case...:)

MØGKÆLLING(means Bitch)
DUMME SVIN (means Bastard)
REND MIG I RØVEN (means GO F##K YOURSELF)
SPASSER (means Retard)
RØVHUL (means asshole)
And the world wide "F##K YOU" is very popular in Denmark too;)
Hope that can be helpfull,,,,

I never thought I would be writing stuff like that in my LJ; almost makes me blush;
I sound like a prude chick right now don`t I ????♥

Oh honey, you just opened a huge can of worms with me! I have tons of questions!

*When is the best time of year to visit?

*Do most people speak a little English (or at least in the touristy areas?)

*What is the one thing every tourist should do while visiting, but never does? In other words, what is the best kept secret of Denmark? And while you are at it, what do you consider the most over-rated tourist attraction?

*What are some of the "American" things you see on television or in the movies that most people of Denmark just do not understand or find funny?

I´ll try to do your questions justice Andrea;)

"*When is the best time of year to visit?"
Probably July, August and September...The weather is pretty great in those months, and it sort of is a beautiful country...

"*Do most people speak a little English (or at least in the touristy areas?)"
Here in Denmark everybody learns english at school from the fifth grade..so at least my generation and the younger ones speaks english; and a lot of people from my parents generation speaks some....

"*What is the one thing every tourist should do while visiting, but never does? In other words, what is the best kept secret of Denmark?"
Here in Jutland, where I live we have "Hamlet`s Grave" Shakespeare wrote about Prince Hamlet who lived on Kronborg in Elsinore,,,,but here in Denmark, our great writer Saxo wrote about him, and his name was Amled and he was the Prince of Jutland..His grave is on Djursland, about 200 kilometers from Aalborg where I live...
My uncle and aunt used to live on Djursland so every time we visited them,I made my father drive to Amleds grave so I could put flowers on it...

" And while you are at it, what do you consider the most over-rated tourist attraction?"
Here in Aalborg we have a famous street called Jomfru Ane Gade(Virgin Ane Street) all the bars and disco`s in Aalborg is located there....I think it is crazy, but tourists love it;)

"*What are some of the "American" things you see on television or in the movies that most people of Denmark just do not understand or find funny?"
Thats a hard one........
But I think the fact, that it seems that everybody calls their father "Sir" in movies makes us laugh..it sound so formal;)
And the fact that it seems that you are unable to eat with a fork and a knife!!! In movies people always just eat with a fork;)
And the fact that old ladies dye their hair pink or lilac...and then dye their dog in the same color!!

I hope my answers are useful, you really got me thinking there, sweetie.
Take care, I hope you are OK♥♥♥
