It just hit me today as I got new letters in the post from organizations that send me Christmas cards and asked for a small - or big - donation..

It is not that I don’t want to help if I can but really; I’m in 8 organizations as it is, and I’m on sick-leave and have been for the past two years, so I really don’t think I can get involved in more.

My charities;

The Cancer Foundation: Have been a member for years as both my Grand-Dada died from cancer and got even more involved when I got cancer myself.

International Child Welfare Service; I have an adopted boy in India that I support. I have been a member for 25 years and have had different kids that I supported, getting an education and a life.

Bosnian Help; My parents and I “adopted” two Bosnian families five years ago. Families that had lost everything in the war and needed everything, and that is down to matches and candy.
They are lovely people and we have come to think of them as family.

The Heart Foundation; I joined 13 years ago when my dad got his heart attack.

SOS Children’s Village; I have been supporting them for years, buying things and donating money when they asked.

The Diabetic Foundation; joined them last year when my Mums diabetic hit hard.

BOS international, I adopted an orangutang last year, remember the pictures??

Doctors without Borders; been supporting for the past couple of years, when they have special cases they need donations for.

So I think I’m doing my part for the world, and somebody else have to save the whales, and butterflies or some plants in the rainforest…

That’s all…………

Oh sweetheart

I feel absolutely privelidged to call you a friend but you really can't be there for everyone.. You care and do so much, there will always be so many good causes.. And through all your problems health and personally you really are a treasure..putting others before yourself.. Through you now I have made cancer my main charity interest.. I have my friend who has leukaemia (who is doing really well atm - fingers crossed), I have heard that my sis-in-law's friend who we knew quite well when we were younger (and me and hubby first started going out together) has breast cancer and her hubby has been diagnosed with throat cancer - in the same week!! and next door's dog has cancer now.. It makes me think of my Grandma who died from cancer and various relatives have had various forms of it..I think I could support 100 different charities and still find some to sponsor..

And I wouldn't have you any other way ♥ You are very special, you know :)

Love you sweetie
Hugs & Love

You are one of the kindest people I have ever met, and I´m so happy that you are my friend.
I´m sorry about your friends and the poor dog.....
Cancer is a very importent charity to support and I´m pleased to know that it is your main interest.

Thats great! Now I feel bad for not helping more, but I am a poor student...

I am a member of Amnesty International.

And I'm a member of Oslo Frivillighetssentral (can't say it in English) basically it is for people helping others with things they can't do themselves or alone. I help a 10 year old girl with her homework two times a week. She has a single mother who have to work all the time. And I shop food for an old man who isn't that strong anymore. He does small shopping himself, but I make the big shoppings for him once a week. I like this because I give of my time, not my wallet :P

Ohhh hon I´m sorry I didn´t mean to make you feel bad.
And you do a lot of things for others, with the homework and the shopping.
Helping in person is such a great thing to be able to, and I wish I could, but I don´t have the strength or the health to do that, so I help with money instead.

♥hugs you♥

But I think it is great that we all can help in different ways though. You didn't make me feel that bad ^^

*hugs back*

I have to admit that I don't belong to any associations... I think it is because I've always been disappointed with them because, in France, at least, we often heard that money given to associations has been misappropriated.
I hope I'll find one in which I can't believe and trust...

At faculty I help people to learn French for free... And I am working with them to help them understand France habits... Perhaps it isn't a very huge act of kindness...

Hey sweetie
We have had some charities here in Denmark too where all the money ended up the wrong places so I do understand you.

But helping people like you do is a great thing too do, it doesn´t always have to be about money. Teaching them the language and the habits of your country is a very big thing...and don´t ever forget all the things you do for me and your other friends here on lj....

♥love you sweetie♥

It really is a shame. People deserve to be helped and cared about and those thieves are really sick! èé

Well... I like to talk with people and if I can help them I'll always do. And really, I'm grateful, because I learn as much as they do thank to them^^

<3 Love You <3

*is proud of you* ^_^

I adopted a child in Brasil many years ago.
Then I support an italian association for cancer research, I offer money for two different "transport" services for old people.
I was donating blood but then I stopped because my "transaminasis" was too high.
And I'm registered in the bone marrow donation list.

I´m proud of you too.
You do so much for other people, and you are doing so much for me and I´m sure for your other friends here on lj and in rl.

♥hugs you so tight♥

I know I keep saying it, but Pippii you are such an inspiration to me. Your strength and generosity should be an example to all of us on how we should be.

I'll admit I do not belong to any organizations, but Kheim and I do donate on a regular basis to ones that are close to us.

Cat Haven - A shelter that rescues and places cats in new homes. Very close to my heart since I am a cat lover.

Various Parkinson's foundations - My grandmother has Parkinson's and there is still so much we do not know about this disease.

Various Cancer foundations - My Granddad passed away from cancer. Again, there is so much we could be doing to catch this disease in time.

Blood donation - I always seem to be anemic and am not able to donate, but Khiem participates in every blood drive they have at his school. The nurses that draw the blood LOVE him because apparently he is a super easy stick. LOL

Aww Andrea you are so kind to me.
It seems that you and Khiem are involved with organisations that are really importent to you.
I do understand the nurses, I´m really hard to stick, especially since they can´t stick in my "good" left arm, because of the cancer operation was in my left side.

The Church group is a great thing, with all the things you do there.

So, you up for Chritmas cards this year??

WOW! That's a lot, Hon. LOVE YOU MORE!!
I only remember two; WWF and Unicef. Both are for local programs. The WWF is for Indonesian wildlife conservation and unicef is for the protection for pregnant women in Indonesian villages.

Thanks honey I love you too♥
These are all charities that means something to me, and I like being able to help others.
Your charities sounds great too, we have them here in Denmark too, but they both do overseas work.

Those are great things to do. I don´t think it is about the amount og charities, but that you care about what you do.
