Mum and I went to the hospital at ten this morning, my Dad is in intensive care. He is in a respirator because he blood was so bad that he can’t breath himself. They have given him some sleeping medication since yesterday so he was asleep.
There is a nurse in his room all the time looking after him, giving medication looking at all the machines.
We talked to a doctor. He said that Dad had an circulatory disease, that his kidneys was working bad and his liver was extremely bad. He asked if Dad has been drinking radiator coolant or eating too many pills in order to kill himself…I got rather upset about that, even if I know they have to ask, because he had the symptoms.
He then told us that Dad didn’t had surgery yesterday, but they have given him a full examination checking all his vital organs and everything for five hours.
They suspected that he had an infection so they keep him on antibiotics, giving him four different kind of fluid and three different kinds of medication, takes blood tests and urine tests every hour. They’ve send some of the test to the hospital in Copenhagen to see if they can find out what is wrong, and they will test him for hepatitis.

After and hour of talking to him and watching him sleep we left and went to my grandmother to tell her what have happened.
At 2.30 we went back to the hospital, there was a new nurse very kind too, she told us they had stopped the sleeping drugs and wanted him to wake up so that they could get him to breathe by himself and get him off the respirator, because they suspected that he would get pneumonia!!
Another doctor came and talked to us. He told us that the kidneys did better that before and that his body reacts well on the fluids.
They still had no idea what is wrong but they keep doing tests and try different treatments.
We told him that Dad had changed his arthritis medication around Christmas and he said that those sometimes could cause liver damage so they would look into that too.
We talked to him for three hours in order to get him to wake up, but he still slept when we left around six.
They promised to call as soon as he wakes up.
Then we bought some food and got home. Mum called my grandmother and I called my brother and told him what news we had. He told me to call as soon as I’ve heard news, so I think that he actually is worried.

Then we ate and I went home, we’ll be going to the hospital again tomorrow at ten.

The hospital still haven’t called so he is still asleep.

This got longer that I planned, but I need to get it out too and you always listen to me.

More news when I now something.

♥hugs you all♥

*hugs you all tight* Oh hun it's a really worrying time for you and your Mum, but at least they are doing lots of tests and keeping a really close eye on your Dad which is good. I'm sure they will get to the bottom of the problem and get your Dad sorted out and he'll be back home before you know it.

Also no need to apologise for a long post, make them as long as you need them to be, it's good to talk about it.

Sending best wishes to you all.

*hugs* ♥

Awww. Honey... I'm so relieved that your dad is already getting slowly better.

Don't worry about the respiration tube. It's not uncommon to get pneumonia because of it.. It's more or less a typical hospital thingy.

+clings to you*

Oh hon! You must be so worried!
*hugs tight*

Yes, it's true that arthritis medication can cause liver damage. A friend of mine suffers from arthritis and it's something she has to take extra pills for.

I hope you have some good news soon

Thank you so much honey, it is scary times right now.
He is better though, awake and in another ward, but they still don`t know what cost the damage in his system.
